Passport to History

Because history is too important to leave in the past

I was born and raised in Western North Carolina in the heart of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Most people associate the area with the scenic overlooks and wide views. I must tell you being from the area, That there is quite a bit of history in the Mountains.

My first suggestion is of course Asheville.

Chimney Rock is really close to home. I am from Hendersonville.... They filmed Last of the Mohicans, Dirty Dancing and the old movie Firestarter there.....

The lake there is called Lake Lure. It is a popular hangout for kids in the summer time. My sister in law in from that area. I am glad you liked it!

Western North Carolina is beautiful. A few years ago, I kidnapped my wife for our anniversary and took her to a B&B in Asheville. I loved the Biltmore. She liked it, but really liked Chimney Rock. I admit the views from Chimney Rock were fantastic, but being afraid of heights, it wasn't the greatest place for me. :-)
