An Old Abandon Family Cemetery in WNC

On January 11 2008 my parents were on there way to Spruce Pine NC to attend the birthday party of my mother’s uncle Lloyd Burleson. On there way, they decided to do some investigating into the location of the McCracken Cemetery. This cemetery is the burial site of Margaret Smith((my great,great,grandmother), her parents- Mathie and Juda Robinson Smith, Vianna Branch-the first wife of Margaret’s husband William Branch and several others. WNC!!!!

I was born and raised in Western North Carolina in the heart of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Most people associate the area with the scenic overlooks and wide views. I must tell you being from the area, That there is quite a bit of history in the Mountains. My first suggestion is of course Asheville. Continue
